I don’t know why, but the fact the phrase “If a million monkeys were at a million typewriters” has a functional name, Infinite Monkey Theorem, makes me want to start a band just because I have a great name for it.

I totally agree – I wonder what Sarah Palin would write on her hand about all this? ;) I don’t really care what she does as long as she keeps wearing skirts!!

  2. In Marxist theory, it is the go-between state between Capitalism and Communism. I have alot of kinfolk in Europe living under Socialist administrations at present and some of whom were below Communism previously. I work for a European company and work with individuals everyday who have endured under said organizations for their entire lives. I know darn well what it is, and I have no desire to be under that kind of government. I would rather fight you in the streets then to endure as they do.

  3. Whether communism or socialism, the direct prevention of anyone’s actions by force of law, assuming those actions weren’t intended to coerce others, is morally wrong.

    • I assume you’re questioning the nano-tech deal, but trust me that I don’t mean to devalue the entire field. There are many applications where this is likely to be productive, but tests and actual use in the real world are different. & regardless of the size, IF electricity is needed you run into a bleed problem where the nano wires are so close together that they bleed and interfere with each other… & so far, the only idea we have of getting past that physical limitation is biologic.

Certainly there might be another, greater, newer technology to come around, but right now we are hitting the psychical limits of making things smaller and still yet more powerful and faster.

This you probably know, but to be fair – like nano-technology, bio was the way even 30 years ago. IBM got a patent by “telling” cells how to line up in the late 80s. As processor and storage prices drop though…

I guess I’m only saying that I don’t know – predicting the future with this or that technology is risky to begin with and historically speaking… there are more stories of a seemingly benign scientific advances resulting in a much greater impact to humans that anything I’ve ever seen which resembles nano or even stem cells… it’s all just the latest incantation of snake oil.

Disclaimer: I want nano-tech to work and it is very promising…. I just think “voting” for that next best thing when looking at historical context is fraught with more dangers than I’m willing to ignore to say anything definitively about that “next new thing”.

Liquid glass is still way cool though :)
